Featured web project: Using Wordpress as a CMS (Blog on steroids) »

Bill Pearson has spent his entire adult life as a retailer, starting out as a store buyer in the 60's. In 1985, with a wealth of experience he began supporting and advising other retailers through his company RAP (Retail Analysis & Planning). As a nationally recognized retail authority, Bill's columns and articles have appeared in numerous journals and publications.
For years Bill sent out a printed booklet to qualified leads, but had began hearing complaints about the lack of information online, he decided a website was long overdue. The internet is prospects first stop when researching a new product or service, if you don't have a presence you're not in the running. For every $1 in online sales, the Internet influenced $3.45 of
offline sales (source - eMarketer).
Bill wanted to take his backlog of around 50 articles and publish them on the web. Using Wordpress as a content management system (CMS), we expanded on the blogging platform to include an articles library This allows someone with no programming skills, to use a blog interface to author new articles, saving time and money on long-term site maintenance. New articles are automatically added to the menu system and site map becoming searchable as part of the database.
Knowing that search engines put high value on pages that are frequently updated, we added a custom blog. The more content Bill adds to his blog, the more chances he'll have to use the keywords he wants to be found on. The blog is more off-the-cuff than the articles, allowing clients to be alerted of new posts via RSS or email.
The homepage features recent blog posts, and a Flash movie designed by Bill. I'm not a big fan of adding Flash movies on any homepage, this was our only area of disagreement. We also added a services, resume, links, and contact page. Bill is still adding his backlog of articles, you can View Bill Pearson's site here »
